Bayern Munich has become a hugely changed side since their whooping at the hands of FC Barcelona. They have not lost a single game since and added set-piece threat to their already effective gameplay. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany says that such opportunities called for his players to remain dangerous in front of goal.
“Every phase of the game is important for us. Set pieces are a chance to score a goal,” Kompany said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “It’s not important to me how the goals come, the main thing needs to be that we’re dangerous. Set pieces have worked of late, but also with counters, like against Heidenheim. The important thing is that we’re always dangerous, which we’ve done so far. It’s also important that we remain dangerous at set pieces”.
Bayern is now on course to finish 2024 with no losses in the last two months of the year. Credit to Kompany and his team — players and assistants alike — and here’s to carrying over that form into the new calendar year.
