It’s safe to say Alabama’s Jalen Milroe is a fair-weather quarterback.
In Tuesday’s first quarter of the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan, Milroe had three turnovers on Alabama’s first four drives, throwing one interception and losing two fumbles. Heavy rain likely contributed to his ball security issues.
Milroe has struggled with turnovers throughout the season. In his first 12 starts, he tossed a career-high 10 interceptions and fumbled seven times, losing four.
Milroe’s inability to protect the ball is one reason Alabama (9-3) failed to earn a second consecutive College Football Playoff berth.
On his updated big board, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. rated Milroe (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) as the No. 3 QB in the 2025 NFL Draft class, behind Miami’s Cam Ward (6-foot-2, 223 pounds) and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders (6-foot-2, 215 pounds).
However, his stock could plummet if he fails to address this concern. NFL teams want QBs who play mistake-free, no matter the weather.
