Petr Yan has jokes for Aljamain Sterling ahead of their upcoming coaching battle.
The former UFC bantamweight champions, and two-time opponents, are set to coach against one another in a Russian reality fighting show, similar to the UFC’s show The Ultimate Fighter. Sterling infamously won the championship from Yan via disqualification at UFC 259 in March 2021 after Yan delivered an illegal knee in the fourth round — which led to lots of jokes and trash talk about Sterling amongst fans, and even Yan that, perhaps, Sterling may have been embellishing the effect of the knee to win the belt.
Recently, Gorilla Fighting on Instagram showed a video of Yan handing Sterling and Oscar award before delivering a fake illegal knee, which Sterling was a tremendous sport with. Check out the video below.
Sterling replaces longtime teammate, friend, and current bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili opposite Yan on the reality show. The newly minted featherweight fighter is coming off of a competitive decision loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 310 in December.
Yan went 2-0 in 2024 with decision wins against Song Yadong and Deiveson Figueiredo.
