Cocoa (Fla.) high school Top 150 class of 2026 quarterback Brady Hart has announced his commitment to the University of Michigan. The 6-4, 180-pounder chose to play his college ball for the Wolverines over Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, and many others.
Hart had been to just about every school in his top group. He did his due diligence before finding a home. In fact, he was set on going through his junior season before making a final decision.
That all changed when he made his way to Ann Arbor.
“The culture they have there,” said Hart, as to why he picked the Wolverines over Ohio State, Clemson, Florida State, and many others. “The program they run. The people. The people were really impactful on my decision.”
One of Hart’s most impactful conversations prior to his commitment was with an all-time great at Michigan, quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The Minnesota Vikings first-round selection took time out of his day to jump on a call with Hart to clarify what it’s like as a Michigan student-athlete.
“He explained why he chose Michigan,” said Hart of his conversation with McCarthy. “He told me that they challenge you in every single way and that this place will bring the excellence out of me.”
In addition, JJ’s parents actually drove from Illinois to meet with the Harts while on campus in Ann Arbor. That played a big role in not only making Hart comfortable with Michigan, but his parents as well.
“That meant everything to me,” said Hart. “It showed that we were a priority for Michigan. It was incredible to get insight from the people that have been through what we’re going through.”
Hart’s process is over. He’s ready to be a Wolverine and he’s fired up to play for head coach Sherrone Moore.
“He was pumped,” said Hart with a laugh. “He was definitely pumped.”
As a recruiter, Hart is ready to get after it. He’s going to do all he can to bring the nation’s elite prospects to Ann Arbor.
“There are a bunch of guys I’m going to go after,” said Hart. “I’m going to start figuring out the guys that fit Michigan from a cultural and personality standpoint and go after them. We’re going to build the best class in the country.”
Hart’s an outstanding prospect. He’s truly one of the top signal-callers in the country regardless of class. Baylin Trujillo, Hart’s private quarterback coach, believes he’ll do special things at Michigan in the future.
“Brady Hart is a freak of nature,” said Trujillo. “He is the true definition of what a quarterback exemplifies. He’s confident, a mature leader, very mature, and is extremely humble. He bets on himself in everything he does and hates losing.
“He went 14-1 and became a State Champion with arguably the hardest schedule in the entire state of Florida and all he cared about was his one loss in which he threw 500 yards and 5 Touchdowns in a controversial loss to St. Thomas Aquinas,” he continued. “I’ve been blessed to be his only quarterback trainer and have had the pleasure to develop him since he was in the 8th grade. He was eager to learn the position at a high level and soaked in everything I taught him. Having a front-row seat in watching him grow and mature into who he is now as a top 10 quarterback in the nation as four-star quarterback has been cherishing to say the least.
“Hart is extremely athletic at 6-5 and has full control over his body which is rare, especially gaining 25 pounds of muscle in the last year,” he added. “He understands the game and has awesome offensive minds as his coaches at Cocoa in coach Schneider and coach Franco. He bet on himself to train with me to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He bet on himself to play at one of the best high schools in the state of Florida to win championships, which he has done. Now he is betting on himself to commit to the defending National Champions to continue the tradition of what it means to be a Michigan Wolverine.”
