Devin Sanchez is the total package. The five-star cornerback from Houston North Shore headlines an Ohio State class of 2025 that currently stands at No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder — the class of 2025’s No. 3 overall prospect, No. 1 cornerback and No. 1 player in Texas — made an early decision by committing Jan. 6.
While some committed prospects still plan to take visits, Sanchez recently shut down any rumors by affirming that he wouldn’t make any other trips. In the latest chapter of our Status Check series, which examines college football’s top committed recruits, we take a look at where things stand with Sanchez.
THE PLAYER
Before ever starting a game for North Shore, Sanchez created buzz as a prospect while on the camp circuit. Now a five-star, Sanchez has been one of the best pure cover corners to emerge from the Lone Star State in the past decade.
Through two years as a starter, Sanchez has totaled 57 tackles, 29 pass breakups and nine interceptions for a North Shore team that twice reached the state final.
August 2022 was Sanchez’s 2025 Top247 debut, and he rose quickly to reach his cycle’s top 10. This past November, Sanchez earned his fifth star and was later named the state’s top player.
