COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Each year, the 15th of June marks an important day on the calendar. It’s the first time that college coaches can directly contact rising junior prospects via phone or text. While no recruiting battle has ever been won because a school was the first to contact a player, it is still a chance for coaches to lay the foundation for a relationship, make an impression and begin to display what they and their program has to offer.
To many in the recruiting world, who made the first call and when they did so has become a bit overrated. Still, it is very much a rite of passage for players and undoubtedly an exciting time.
This weekend many of the class of 2026’s top players are in Colorado Springs competing for a roster spot on USA Basketball’s U17 team that will head to Turkey later on this month for the FIBA World Cup.
On Sunday, 247Sports spoke with 13 of the top 2026 prospects in attendance – including 10 of the top 14 ranked players in the class – on which programs had been hitting their line. Here’s a look at how the top 2026 prospects fared at the USA basketball trials so far and which programs they’ve heard from.
