Zafar Mohsen’s PFL debut victory is now off the books.
MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin confirmed with Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation Chief Mike Mazzulli that Mohsen tested positive for a banned substance in tests following his unanimous decision win over Husein Kadimagomaev at this past October’s PFL Battle of the Giants event.
Mohsen’s test results included drostanolone, a prohibited anabolic steroid. He did not dispute the result and receives a one-year suspension and a $2,000 fine. His suspension officially began on Oct. 19.
The news was first reported by MMA Junkie.
PFL Battle of the Giants took place on Oct. 19 at The Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With the exception of Mohsen, all of the event’s main card fighters tested negative for banned substances, including title fight winners Francis Ngannou, Cris Cyborg, and Johnny Eblen. The fighters were tested in and out of competition.
Mohsen and Kadimagomaev were the second fight on the main card. With his league debut win overturned, Mohsen’s record drops back down to 13-4.
